Where can one find the list of books, CDs and other data products published by the Census Organisation on 2001 Census?

What is the procedure for purchasing Census publications/books and other data products?
The data users are advised to use the facility of ‘Shopping Cart’ to purchase books and other data products. This user-friendly facility will guide one through the entire process and is very easy to use. The users are requested to place order for the supply of books/CDs required along with the advance remittance of total sales price.

How to make payment while indenting for purchase of books/CDs, etc., required?

The following mode of payment are acceptable:

  • By Demand Draft
  • By Money Order
  • By making advance deposit
  • Across the counter

The total amount is required to be remitted in advance for any purchase. Payment may be made by Demand Draft drawn in favour of “Registrar General, India” payable at New Delhi, if the purchase order is to be sent to Office of the Registrar General, India, New Delhi. In case the indent is to be placed with any of the Census Directorate, the Demand Draft may be drawn in favour of PAO (Census), New Delhi and sent to the concerned Census Directorate. The other alternative is to purchase these books/CDs across the counter by paying in cash from the Data Dissemination Unit of the Office of the Registrar General, India, New Delhi or in all the Data Dissemination Units located at the Office of the Directorates of Census Operations of that particular State.

What are the questions which were asked in 2001 Census?
The 2001 Census in India was conducted in two phases. The first phase is known as Houselisting Operations and the second phase as Population Enumeration. List of questions canvassed during the two phases were as follows:

How to find out the list of new releases published by Census on a regular basis?
The list of new releases on Census and Vital Statistics publications is made available at the Census of India Website on 7th of every month. These are also sent to Registered Users by email.

How to become a Registered User?
Facility to sign up as Registered User is available at the Census of India Website. One may fill up the required particulars and become a member of this group free of cost.
8.
What are the benefits given to Registered Users?
All the registered users are regularly sent a list of new releases of data products from the Census Organisation by email. This list is sent to the Registered Users every month. Intimation about workshops being organized by the Office of the Registrar General, India or various Offices of the Directorates of Census Operations in States/Union territories are also sent to the concerned registered users.

Addresses and other particulars of each Census Directorate in the country and the Office of the Registrar General, India are available at the Census of India Website at http://censusindia.gov.in

Who are the sales agents appointed by the Census Organisation?
List of the sales agents are available at http://censusindia.gov.in. The Sales Agents are authorized to sell books, CDs and other publications.

What is Consultancy Service offered by the Census Organisation?
Census Organisation publishes tables and reports on Census data collected during Census. Consultancy Service is a facility extended to undertake need based jobs from data users, like preparing customized tables or drawing special maps on request by individual data users. Does the Census 2001 provide data on Income & Expenditure of households?
  Census 2001 did not collect information on Income & Expenditure, and, therefore, data tables based on these two indicators are not available. However, Census 2001 had collected information on various assets (like Television, Telephone, Bicycle, Car, Moped, etc., on every household (see Table H-13), which could be used as proxies for analysis.
