Primary Census Abstract – Himachal Pradesh

The final population data and its basic characteristics presented in this publication is based on the processing, editing and tabulation of actual data captured through Household Schedule at the Population Enumeration phase of Census of India 2001. The generation of Primary Census Abastract for the Census of India 2001 was a fully computerized exercise starting with the automatic capture of data through scanning of the Household Schedule to the compilation of Primary Census Abstract.

Census Abstract gives basic information on area, Total households, Population, Population in the age group 0-6, Scheduled Castes population, Scheduled Tribes population, Literates, Total workers, Non-Workers, Main workers and Marginal workers classified by four broad industrial categories, namely, Cultivators, Agricultural Labourers, Household Industry workers and Other workers. The Primary Census Abstract of Institutional population (A-6) and Houseless population (A-7) have been given first time up to district level by residence and sex. Census Abstracts of different categories put together in this publication will be very useful and handy reference for the data users.

Administrative Atlas – Jammu and Kashmir

Administrative Atlas, 2001 of all the States and Union territories gives preparation, maps of the state, district and sub-district levels have been put together. For convenience of the data users, the publication has been made ready in two parts : Part-I is in regard to the maps showing the evolution of States/Union territories during the period 1872-2001 at decadal level. These maps exhibit the evolution of administrative boundaries in the respective State/Union territory through the entire time period. A brief analytical note has been added to explain the jurisdictional changes of each map. Besides, there are a few thematic maps at state level showing different themes. Few selected key population statistics at State/Union territories level have also been included. Part-II is more current. The first map highlights the changes observed in the administrative boundaries during 1991-2001. This is followed by district and sub-district maps of the respective States/Union territories showing amenities and location code number in the sub-districts adopted during Census 2001 at village level. To read the location code numbers, the names of villages alongwith code numbers are given on the page facing each plate.
