Consultancy
Service :
Traditionally
census data are released in the form of tables made available through
various publications. The Census organization releases tables based
on data collected at the time of census enumeration. These pre-formatted
tables are planned in advance based on the general requirement by different
cross-sections of data users and are released at various levels of administrative
jurisdictions, like country, state, district, sub-districts, towns,
villages etc.
Given the
limitation of space in printed publications not all the requirements
of data users can be met. One of the possibilities being explored is
to provide unit level (raw data) to the users on a sample basis. However,
many organizations, in government or outside, individual research scholars,
private agencies, commercial or industrial houses may find it difficult
to construct new tables from the given data set or compute rates. It
may not be necessary for such organizations or users to install the
infrastructure or recruit technical skill for such work.
Recognizing
this urgent need the Census Organization announces introduction of special
consultancy services to help data users in meeting their requirements
on a short term or a long term basis.
Services
Proposed :
- Partnership
in project formulation and project implementation with reference to
use of census data only
- Generating
customized tables based on requirements
- To depict
the attribute data on maps and prepare thematic maps
- Long
term association for census data requirement
At present
the services are confined to requirements pertaining to 1991 Census
data and the data released on 2001 Census. Other conditions also apply.
Examples :
- A
senior correspondent of The Mirror in India daily newspaper requires
various latest census data for writing articles or news items, e.g.,
sex ratio among 0-6 years population in Haryana, or in Gurgaon district,
etc. He is in long term consulting service arrangement with the
Census Organization. Whenever his data requirement is received the
information is sent to him immediately, thus allowing to meet his
deadline.
- A
Research Scholar in Jaipur University needs to conduct survey among
economically rich section of the people. Census Organization helps
him in locating those Enumeration Blocks, which have high proportion
of households who own house, have a car and also telephone. The
scholar is able to plan the survey in the selected Enumeration Blocks.
- A
school student of Amity School of New York wants to complete a project
on Indian population. He approaches the Census organization for
information and data on Indian population. After a few exchange
of mails to find out the actual requirement, the Census Organization
is able to provide the details at a reasonable cost.
- Continental
Services, an all India consulting service provider, has been engaged
by the Government to identify the top 100 fast growing cities and
towns, and also require various tables not published by Census as
per their tabulation plan. Census organization steps in to provide
the data.
- EeeZee
Services wishes to make a presentation before the client depicting
important census data on maps at sub-district level. Census organization
meets the requirement by supplying thematic maps on items required.
The examples
are endless. The important thing is that an experienced team is available
to extend the service using latest census data and maps.
Price:
The Consultancy
Service will be made available at a reasonable price depending upon
volume of data to be used, time spent, requirement of software development,
if any, etc.
