This volume contains the figured statement prepared by
the Census Commissioner for India From the Provincial
Returns Compiled by the Deputy Superintendents of Census
under the several Local Governments, or by other officers
who have been entrusted with the duty of preparing the
statistics collected at the Census of 1881 for the
Provinces and States of India.
The General Report on the Census of India will be
published in a separate volume when the various Provincial
